Accession to the throne: “Trounwiessel” in Wiltz

On the occasion of the enthronement on 4 October 2025 of Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie, the Ardennes town will become one of the central venues of the celebrations. Wiltz is one of five places to be visited by the new heads of state on this historic day. Under the title “Trounwiessel”, the town will be transformed into a meeting place for diversity, closeness and community.

What does “Trounwiessel” mean?

The Luxembourgish word “Trounwiessel” symbolises the bringing people closer together. In Wiltz, this idea becomes impressively visible: the longest table in the country invites hundreds of residents and guests to sit together and share this special encounter with the Grand Ducal couple.

The concept puts the people at the centre – not as spectators but as active co-creators of this unique moment. The “Trounwiessel” thus becomes a symbol of openness, cohesion and the unifying spirit of the nation.
